A measured approach to Balkan rentals.
We work with a small group of local operators across Macedonia, Albania and Kosovo to make car rental quiet, predictable and complete.
Mission
Mkrent was built in Skopje in 2022 to remove the friction that has long defined regional car rental: scattered counters, opaque pricing and uncertain vehicles. We aggregate vetted partners onto a single booking layer, publish full totals before checkout and stay reachable from the moment a reservation is placed until the keys are returned.

Network
Local operators, audited carefully.
Our partners run their own counters in Skopje, Tirana, Pristina and the surrounding airport cities. Each one is contracted directly by Mkrent, holds local commercial registration and is reviewed quarterly against a written service standard covering response time, vehicle condition and refund discipline.
Every car listed on the platform is under thirty-six months old, photographed in person and inspected on handover and return by the partner team. Named operators such as Goran in Skopje have worked with us since the first booking in 2022; the bench has grown since, but the selection bar has not moved.

Methodology
How we vet every partner.
Before a counter appears on Mkrent, it passes five concrete checks. Each one is repeated on a fixed schedule — partners that fall below the bar are paused, not hidden.

Commercial registry verification
We confirm each partner's business registration with the Central Registry of North Macedonia (or the equivalent registry in Albania and Kosovo), VAT identification and the licence to operate rental services.

Insurance documentation review
Third-party liability up to two million euros and a comprehensive damage policy are checked against the underwriter's certificate at onboarding and renewed annually.

Fleet condition audit
Vehicles must be under thirty-six months old, hold a current road-worthiness certificate and a complete service history. We photograph the front, rear, both sides and the interior on intake.

Pricing transparency check
Listed totals include VAT, airport surcharge and insurance — no on-site additions. Deposit caps and fuel policies are reviewed quarterly against the published rate card.

Operational scoring
Response time on enquiries, refund discipline and customer review ratings are tracked monthly. Partners below the threshold are removed from the front of the listings until the issue is resolved.

Operated under GDPR, EU electronic invoicing and AWS EU-Central data residency, with two million euros of liability cover written into every reservation.
